What's On

By Gary Lukatch

It looks like the Budapest Stand-Up Comedy Store (BudSuCS) is back in business. The first offering of the new year was at Manga Cowboy restaurant on Ráday utca on Saturday, January 23rd. The spotlight performer was Damian Clark, an Australian comedian living in Dublin. Tiny little Manga Cowboy was again packed to the gills, filled to the rafters, stuffed to the sides with ready-to-be-entertained locals and expats, all of whom braved the way-below-freezing winter weather for the opportunity to chuckle and guffaw.

The stand-up comedians presented by BudSuCS in past performances have run the gamut from disappointing amateurs to hilarious professionals.

Damian Clark certainly fills the bill for the latter. His manic, high-energy comedy style left the audience with tears in their eyes from laughing so hard. Of course, no one spilled their drink this time, so maybe the night wasn’t a complete success, but it was awfully close.

BudSuCS is now being overseen by Howard Cohen, who is also the local Ambassador of the Internations social networking group and co-host of The Budapest Syndrome radio show. Howard plans to bring in more comedians in the future for the delight and edification of us poor local comedy-starved expats, so we look forward to many more nights of mirth and fun.

BudSuCS schedules can be found on their website or on Facebook.
