- Born in Daegu in 1954, LEE Chang-dong graduated from Kyungbuk University in 1980 with a degree in Korean language and literature. A well-known novelist, he scripted <To the Starry Island> (directed by PARK Kwang-su) in 1993 and <A Single Spark> in 1995. In 1996, his debut film <Green Fish> won the Dragons & Tigers Award at the 16th Vancouver International Film Festival. His second film, <Peppermint Candy>(1999), swept the nation, and his third film <Oasis>(2002) was even more acclaimed after premiering as the Opening Film of the 4th Pusan International Film Festival and screening at Cannes, and was invited to more than 30 film festivals worldwide. The film won three prizes in Karlovy Vary and two in Bratislava. After serving as the Ministry of Culture, he made his comeback as director with <Secret Sunshine>.

ㅇ ‘The Way Home’ is a 2002 film written and directed by Lee Jeong-hyang. It was the second-highest grossing domestic film in South Korea in 2002.
ㅇ ‘The Way Home’ is a heart-warming story about a grandmother and her city-born grandson who comes to live with her in a rural village. The film, which reminds the younger generation of the unconditional love and care that their parent’s generation selflessly give, won 's equivalent of the Oscars for best picture and screenplay in 2002.
ㅇ The story begins on a fine summer morning, when Sang-woo (Yu Seung-ho) and his mother board a bus to the countryside. It is soon clear that the unsophisticated rural passengers annoy the seven-year-old urban boy. His mother is taking him to live with his 78-year-old mute, but not deaf, grandmother (Kim Eul-boon) while she looks for a new job after a business venture failed in Seoul. Eventually they reach their destination, a dusty bus stop in the Korean countryside near a simple village.

ㅇ Yun-seo comes across an 'indecent novel' by chance. Hesitant to read such a book at first, he is soon inspired to write one himself. He even asks his family rival and infamous captain of guards, Gwang-heon, to draw the illustrations for his books.
ㅇ Their book "Heukgokbisa" soon becomes the most talked about book in town and is eventually read by Jeong-bin, the king's favorite concubine. With Jeong-bin's involvement, two men are soon drawn in a tricky web of palace intrigue.

< About the Film >
ㅇ Christmas in August was director Hur Jin-ho's debut feature film and stars Han Suk-kyu and Shim Eun-ha as the main actors.
ㅇ With over 400,000 admissions in Seoul and screenings in Cannes, Singapore and Pusan International Film Festival, the film to this day enjoys an enduring fan base throughout Asia. It was one of the titles garnering critical and popular support for the emerging Korean film industry in the late’90s, and subsequent works made in its tribute. In 2005, there was a remake of the film in in 2005 by director Nagasaki Shunichi.
ㅇ The film also had an enduring influence within the Korean film industry. Actor Jang Hyuk reportedly studied the film in preparation for his comeback role in MBC drama "Thank You". Assistant Director Park Heung-shik was influenced by particular scenes of Jung-won washing rice and teaching his father the VCR remote control for his own film “Bravo, My Life!”. Jung-won’s muffled weeping scene also found its way into Park’s other film “My Mother, the Mermaid”. Characters in “Barking Dogs Never Bite” and “Girls' Night Out” are shown, respectively, watching scenes of the VCR remote and lovers' stroll. Han and Shim are named as ideal casting choices by the eponymous aspiring script writer in “My Sassy Girl”.
ㅇ The film recently landed in the top spot of Movie Week magazine's special feature of “10 Best Korean Romance/Melodrama from 1980-2007”, touting the lead performances as gold standards of the genre. In the same feature, director Song Hae-seong of “Failan” noted the scene of a lonely Jung-won singing "In the Street" by Kim Kwang Suk , whose funeral portrait inspired Hur Jin-ho's debut film, as a particularly resonant example of melodrama transcending its genre to express humanity's essence.

< About the Film >
ㅇ Marathon is a Korean movie based on the true story of Bae Hyeong-jin, an autistic runner. The film brought public awareness to autism, the Korean term being “ja-pye-jeung” which can be translated as "self-closed syndrome."
ㅇ The movie follows the story of an autistic young man, Cho-won, who finds release only in running. As a child, Cho-won regularly threw tantrums, bit himself, and refused to communicate with others, finding solace only in zebras and the Korean candy snack, Chocopie. His mother never gave up on him and was determined to prove to the world that her child can be normal. As Cho-won grows older he begins to find a passion for running and his mother is right there to encourage him. Even though both Mother and Cho-Won suffer from family issues and money shortages, they find a retired champion marathon runner - now a lethargic middle-aged man with alcohol problems.
ㅇ He, who is serving community service hours as a physical education teacher for a DUI, grudgingly accepts the offer to train Cho-won in marathon running, but eventually becomes lazy with him. The teacher sometimes takes Cho-won's snack, and takes Cho-won to a steam house to relax. Even though the old marathoner slacks off most of the time, Cho-won's determination for running are firm; he even runs 100 laps around a soccer field when the teacher told him to accidentally.

Ending his career role as assistant director with “Motel Cactus”(1997, directed by PARK Ki-yong), he directed his own feature “Barking Dogs Never Bite” (2000), making a big impression on the Korean film industry. His second feature “Memoires of Murder”(2003), based on the true story of a serial killing, attracted more than 5 million domestic viewers. He was recognized as one of the year's best directors, achieving both commercial success and artistic quality.

< About the Film >
ㅇ “Memories of Murder” is a 2003 South Korean drama film directed by Bong Joon-ho. It is based on the true story of the country's first known serial murders, which took place between 1986 and 1991 in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. The film's cinematography, as well as Song Kang-ho's performance, earned it wide praise.
ㅇ At the start of the film, in October 1986, a young woman is found raped and murdered in a ditch near a field. Soon after, another woman is found raped and murdered in a field nearby. Local detective Park Doo-man, not having dealt with such a serious case before, is overwhelmed; key evidence is improperly collected, the police's investigative methods are suspect, and their forensic technology is near non-existent. Detective Seo Tae-yoon is sent from Seoul to assist them; their methods clash and he is unable to convince them they are dealing with a serial killer until his predictions of another murder come true.
ㅇ He realizes that the killer waits until a rainy night, and only kills women wearing red. A female police officer also finds out that a local radio station is always requested to play a particular song during the nights the murders are committed.

- Director LIM earned her Masters’ degree in Film Studies at the University Paris 8 in . Her short film “Promenade in the Rain” (1994) won prizes at Seoul, Clermont Ferrand and Fribourg film festivals. LIM’s first feature <Three Friends> (1996) won the award for best Asian film at the first Pusan International Film Festival, and was screened at many festivals including Berlin, New Directors/New Films, Vancouver, Seattle, Melbourne and Karlovy Vary. LIM’s second feature film <Waikiki Brothers>(2001) was also played at major film festivals around the world. <Forever the Moment> was LIM’s third feature film.

< Synopsis >
ㅇ The year 1988 saw a bunch of flashes in the pop music industry, and rock star CHOI Gon was one of them. After his only hit song 'The Rain and You', he became involved in drug problems, mob fights, and now sings in a café in the countryside. One day he gets into a fight with one of the customers at the café, and needs bail money to get released from a lockup.
ㅇ Desperately trying to free him, his manager PARK Min-soo comes up with the solution to send CHOI Gon to a radio station in a far, remote town in as a DJ, so that the radio station can pay for the bail. Helpless and bewildered, CHOI Gon now has to DJ in front of a few dozen listeners in the countryside…
