The abominable behavior of Budapest "paraszt" driver community

As an everyday fact we see, that once a medium class citizen accumulates a certain amount of wealth or feels empowered enough by the almighty banking debt system to do so, he/she decides to buy a car.of course I am excluding those who receive it as a gift from their wealthy (or also swimming in a huge debt) parents who award him/her the vehicle as recognition to a successful university graduation, or having being to be able to make it to 18. The point is that having a car appears to be the symbol of entry to a productive or adult life for our fellow middle class citizens, the perfect way to show off to our neighbours, classmates, to the city , the country and the entire world that "oh yeah, once and for all we can prove that even us could make it in life, we are successful!".besides, in some cases, the level of culture and educational background of the future car owner will have a dramatic impact on the color, model and sound system features of the machine.

That would explain why in the mind of many of the standard middle class Hungarians to purchase a car is the goal n.1, becoming even more important than owning a house or apartment (which is changing from far away to impossible this days, even though Hungarians like to own a decent apartment) or getting a girlfriend/boyfriend. There are few who resist the temptation of transferring half of their hard earned monthly salary to the payment of a new car, whether fancy or just some little „smart” model.

I am happy to say that I have developed throught the years a deep sense of respect for the right of every citizen to do whatever the heck he wants with his not much/ almost non existing/ definitely non existing money. The bad thing is when the owner of a car believes that to be in possession of those 4 wheels plus a plastic property card that he carries in his cheap and stinky imitation of leather wallet gives him the right to look at ,mistreat or attack his fellow human beings, in this case, the pedestrians, outraged by a herd of car owners enboldened by a misplaced sense of self righteousness and stupid arrogance,of course I am not saying this behaviour is typical of every car owner, I am saying some of us just can not control the idea of showing off our „superior status” based on the posession of an object, in this case, a car.

In a constant pursue of their role of sucessfull and smart car owner, insulting any unlucky and helpless pedestrian who interfere on their omnipotent line of sight to the horizon through the windshield of their automobile (the bigger, the wider,, the louder mp3 sound system the better!). A great amount of the middle class new Budapest car owners takes joy in insulting everyone who has the misfortune of getting on their path or those who don’t share their level of expertise on the control of the imponent machine,to express the need to inflict discomfort onto others by the means of their undisputable and tyranic power transformed into really, really loud shitty music (I don’t know exactly why it happens the most around Blaha Lujza Ter) expelled out of their car windows calling the attention of the inhabitants of the surrounding 30 blocks, cruelly annoying those who are victims of destiny by having the frequent disgrace of walking around the areas where these drivers lacking people skills usually transit.

Not happy with only impossing their wild west ways to pedestrians, these subjects use all sorts of verbal insults even if they are the ones to blame in the eventuality of an accident or „almost an accident”. To illustrate such situations, I will use he following examples:

Almost a year ago, I was on my way home enjoying the company of a beloved friend and colleague, crossing the street on the way to the 4-6 tram line at fehervari út, in front of the csarnok. Suddenly a beautiful woman in her 30’s had the misfortune to have her feminine and armonic body crashed by a mini Piaggio motorcycle that appeared out of nowhere, driven by some retarded body builder-wanna be jerk on a hurry, he crashed her right on the zebra, when it was perfectly legal for her to cross the street.I saw her body slammed against the paviment my first reaction was to help her up, and ask her if se was fine.surprisingly,I witnessed how she stood up unharmed, verifing with her hands that all her parts were still intact and attached to her body after such severe impact.the only thing to regret was her pants teared around one of her knee joints and some of her belongins still laying on the cold floor. She said to me that despite the tremendous slamm, she was happy to be still alive.then she turned her glance to the –until that moment- silent rider, whose monstrosity of a face was still hidden behind his helmet, staring at us with a defying attitude, angry, choleric. She asked him, with admirable tremendous courtesy and education ,if he was alright after all what happened. In an act of the most hideuos imbecility and showing no regard for the pain and diplomacy of his victim, the motorized thug started swearing and yelling at the helpless lady, blaming her to be the cause of the accident,a coward reaction, maybe fearing the consecuences that he would have to face in a police station. Then he accelerated and headed towards Buda, to continue with his uneducated, dullard, loser existence while still swearing at the lady.

Second example:

Last week, a miserable female driver with the unique swagger of a low class „plaza cica” worker of any low profile business was driving her shiny Mercedez Benz while involved in a passionate conference call, probably with her prospect of weekend lover in the area surrounding Westend City Mall, precisely around 5 p.m. when everyone is on the way home. There was a pedestrian crossing right in front of her, and the traffic light showed clearly that it was me who was entitled by the sacred and respectable traffic laws to cross the street walking on a straight line right to the opposite side. Then the artificial redhead irrational monster , probably filled with wrath after her male mating partnert had turned her down for the weekend, decided to accelerate, almost striking me with in the process, not only ignoring my rights but also demonstrating her anger after I courteously indicated to her with a gesture that I was in use of my legitimate turn to cross the zebra.the poisonous viper then extended her right hand out of the window, giving me the typical middle finger in the „fuck you” position, while using every little pause she had from the angry phone conversation to yell some non sense at me.

Honestly, Just for a second , I could not avoid having the thought of smashing one of the side windows of her car, and yank off a handful or her tinctured hair to make her aware of her incivilized and primitive behaviour. But the peaceful and just blood of my forefathers clamoured in my vains to indicate that even if I was victim of such agression I should remain calm, besides what if this grotesque gargoyle behind the wheel would use her cheap plastic colorful nails to injure me in the process causing some sort of posionous or deadly infection?

On top of that, there was a not very slight possibility of the law being on her side, and that some of the men in blue in the proximity, would decide to put me in handcuffs for attacking a helpless, sweet and innocent civilian in a display of swift justice. Because of all of this, I will keep on my archaic and ecologist desicion of not driving a car, and to make aware those who do drive, that those people walking in the street carry with themselves a respectable state of defenselessness, which any human being with a shred of intelect and common sense should be able to understand and show some empathy for.

Unfortunately what you wrote is so true in every way. I meet with similar things every single day. And yes, sometimes I do drive a car, but even as a driver you still get "bullied" by other drivers. And about the "men in blue" I could tell you lots of stories... Sad, but true.
