60 years of FREYWILLEThe fascinating world of enamel
FREYWILLE is looking back on a 60-year company history;
the centre of the jewellery creation is focused on artistic design.
In the artist Simone Grünberger he found the personality to create together with a whole team of artists, a completely new form of jewellery based on a honed enamel technique. The designs are created, then and now, preciously in the highest artistic level.
Since this change to a completely new design of our jewellery through the leadership of Simone Grünberger-Wille, and her team of artists, the “FREYWILLE style” was created. The first collections were “Avantgarde”, a geometric inspired range, and “Tropic”, expressing people’s desire for foreign countries. After this, FREYWILLE focussed on art-historical epochs such as “Egypt” and “Greco-Roman”, before moving onto the “Hommage” ranges; each of which acted as a tribute collection to the successful and renowned artist Gustav Klimt, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Claude Monet and Alphonse Mucha. The latest design creations have all been inspired by the philosophy “Ode to Joy of Life” with designs and philosophies such as “passion”, “endless love”, “paradise” or “living art”.
Only the fire enamel developed by FREYWILLE – melted glass with minerals – allows us to capture pure, vivid colours. In the centre of each piece of jewellery there is precious enamel – which is applied in several coats. Each coat requires a certain mixing proportion. The grounding, the applying, cleaning and firing result in a total of about 80 working processes.
The finished piece of enamel – a fragile colour intensive plate – will be fixed manually in selected yellow gold plated, rhodium-plated or 18kt gold mountings.
