How is life in Hungary for Expats someone asked?

Excellent, in my opinion! I came here almost 2 years ago and love living in this country, especially in the lively and exciting city of Budapest. (although I have a great love for the smaller towns and villages also). Hungary has changed a lot since I arrived and I see new changes every day.

I have been coming to Hungary on and off since 1985 mostly for vacations and short visits, and the changes I have seen since that time are monumental, with Hungary now a member of NATO and the European Union.

For expats Hungary holds opportunities and adventures to do a variety of things and activities. Here are a few I can think of:

Hunting, fishing, boating, bicycling, hiking, camping, museums, opera, quality schools and universities, theater, quality shopping, excellent restaurants, exciting night life, excellent transportation, excellent grocery choices, a wine lovers paradise, quality continuing educational opportunities, and a large variety of clubs and organizations to choose from to keep busy. For example I joined one of the many Chambers of Commerce’s and this has provided me with a wonderful network of new friends, activities, and volunteer opportunities I never thought possible.

I read recently where 5000 Hungarians, (mostly 56ers) have returned here and are now back living throughout the country. In my opinion this trend will continue because all of the changes are like magnets pulling them back home. I hope more will return to their roots!
