Hello Murray. The company in which I work has an IT department and they have vacancies. What's your field? I don't know our IT salaries since negotiation is vital in Hungary but I get well over the average. If you get 250-300K net you'll be able to live OK so long as you don't want the BMW-swimming pool life. Kids will eat and dress well with a driving vacation twice per year. A Salary over that and you'll be well comfy. Good luck and reply with you email if you want to know more about the vacancy, I'll forward it! P.S. You don't need to speak Hungarian since the boss is German and speaks English, nice guy too! I know he needs Java programmers for sure but there are other openings!!

Could someone give me a rough idea on IT salaries in Budapest, and what kind of income is required for a comfortable living in Budapest. I worked in the Czech Republic about 2 years ago, and found that even though I was paid very well, the money was not very good, due to the fact that I was a foreigner, which meant many things, such as rent, were very expensive. The fact that I am married with one child made it even more expensive!

I am currently interviewing for a job in Budapest, and want to be able to give a reasonable salary demand.
