Hi,
I had similar issues with OTP vs. Google check some time ago. I have canceled the adsense shortly after, but have heard more successful stories with K&H, someone even tried with Citibank. Those were all cheaper & faster than OTP. Good luck!

Hi,
I found OTP very easy to open an account with, however I have just paid in a US dollar cheque from Google and OTP told me it will take 45 days to clear. I got no idea why it takes so long and the girl behind the counter couldn't tell my why either. Is this the norm with banks here?

I'm with CIB although only for four weeks. I had some problems with language in my local branch (Siófok) but the staff were friendly and tried to help. The internet bank works well and the 24hours phone service is better than any I ever had in the UK.
My one issue is that branch opening hours are a little inflexible compared with my bank in the UK. I think this is one area where Citi banks offering seems better.

Most definitely not K&H. They provided our first bad experience in Hungary. We've been with CIB for the past 6 years. They provide the best banking service we've had in any country we've lived in and that includes the USA and the UK.

Yes, citibank! I was at OTP for 3 years the banking service was awful. Citibank was a breeze and was up in running in a few days.

We have registered with Reiffeisen (I'm sure I have spelt that wrong. I have emailed them questions and they have replied quickly and I have used the phone to order bank cards and that has been dealt with efficiently. There is an option on their telepone banking to listen to everything in Hungarian or English. Hope that helps.

Hi there,

Some say that IEB (www.ieb.hu) is something like that. Maybe try Citibank too.

Cheers.
