You will survive with English, no worries. Not too many speaks it, but at least in the central areas of the city you will manage. People here are friendlier than they look like at first glance :) Learning Hungarian can be a tough one. But not impossible. Cheers!

We are looking at moving to Budapest this year, currently residing in Singapore. Both of us speak English and French, and was wondering how hard it is to pick up Hungarian? I'll have more trouble than my wife, as she has five languages under her belt, but Wikipedia states it is quite a difficult language as it differs greatly from other European languages.

On the same thread, whilst we will be looking to learn Hungarian, how difficult is it to survive with English for the first coupel of months?
